There are territorial differences in the detection of violence against children (9.8 cases in 1000 in the North, 11.6 in the Center and only 8.4 in the South), gender differences are another important variable: girls are more victimized and less protected, also because the cases are not revealed and detected. According to the oms Europe, only one case per nine of maltreatment is known to the services. Applying the estimate also to Italian girls, in Italy there are almost four girls abused every 100. But 90% of them remain silent.
